I started my day with at 6 am quick cycle down to the lake and a short swim. There was nobody out at that time and the mountain range in the back was mirrored in the water. Just beautiful. I went back up to the hostel to have breakfast. It was great to only have a short day ahead because that meant I did not have to rush in the morning but I could actually enjoy a good breakfast.
I started my cycle at around 8. The first 25 kilometers went by very quickly as they were mostly downhill. After that I had to climb across a little pass with about 200 steep vertical meters to then drop back down towards bled. From the distance I already say the Bled castle and decided to cycle up there since the day was still young. After a short steep road up I parked my bike at the parking lot and walked up rest to the castle entrance. The 11 Euros entrance are definitely worth it. The view from the castle across lake Bled and is stunning. The clear blue colour of the lake against the green mountainranges and the blue sky looked absolutely breath taking.
In Bled I met with Johannes who is currently there on an extended road bike weekend. We spent most of our afternoon sipping some beers and hopping into the lake to cool off. Temperatures were very high again but bearable right next to the water.
I had dinner at Johannes’ hotel and hung out with the whole group of Veloclub Regensburg after for some more drinks. They are a great bunch of fun people which led to me not coming home before 2. I glad that my goal is only Ljubljana which should be only about 50 or 60. Should be do-able.
