ABOUT ME AND THIS PROJECT
The Idea behind this Endeavour
Cycling is a passion of mine. Especially using the bike to get to places. In an interconnected world where all places are virtually omnipresent, where you hop on a plane and reach the other side of the globe in less than a day, traveling by bike puts a new perspective on the distance between two places. The world grows the longer it takes you to get from A to B. Cycling allows you to appreciate and enjoy the way from A to B and once you start cycling slowly you realise that B is every little moment along the way.
While I can experience these moments out of my own enjoyment, for people fleeing from war and persecution this route is a quest for survival. Where I show my passport to cross a boarder they risk their lives crossing mountains and rivers at night in the hope of not getting caught .
With my ride from Switzerland to Greece I want to raise funds for an organisation called "Because we Carry". They work with refugees in the camp Kara Tepe on Lesbos. Their efforts aim to make the lives of those people who left everything behind in hope of a better life a bit easier. They support various projects in the refugee camp.
